With the popularity that distantly-grown nuts like almonds, cashews, and macadamias have, it's time we take a closer look at the amazing selection of wild nuts we have growing abundantly here in the Midwest. During this class we will review identification, harvesting, and processing techniques with a focus on acorns, black walnuts, and wild hazelnuts. Attendees will have a chance to cook and sample various preparations like toasted nuts, nut oils, a coffee substitute and even acorn porridge!
